Late-Breaking Results: Ridge-width dependence on distributed feedback quantum cascade lasers at 7.5 μm
Speaker Biography: Li Yao-yao was born 1980 in Shandong province of China. He received his B.S. in Physis from Qufu Normal University in 2003 and received his Ph.D. in Microelectronics and Solid State Electronics from Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIMIT, CAS), China in March, 2008. Since then he has been appointed by SIMIT as an associate researcher faculty and continue his research in the field of Middle-Infrared Quantum Cascade Lasers.

Summary: Currently, significant progresses of mid-infrared quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) that emit more light than heat in continuous-wave operation at room temperature with power up to watts have been achieved. In order to accelerate and to carry forward QCLs applications in emerging strategic areas, efforts to fulfill this target are to improve QCLs materials and devices with stabilized performance. The ridge width is an important factor influences the laser continuous-wave operation. In this paper, distributed feedback QCLs (λ=7.5 µm) with different ridges width have been studied.
