Life, the Universe, and Everything: A Chat with Pioneering Physicist Manijeh Razeghi
SPIE Photonics West 2019 - November 15, 2018
The secret to science, according to SPIE Fellow Manijeh Razeghi, lies within the periodic table. "If you take the periodic table, it means you are starting with atoms," says the 2018 winner of the Benjamin Franklin Medal in Electrical.Engineering, and chair of the Quantum Sensing and Nano Electronics and Photonics conference at SPIE Photonics West 2019. ... Applied Physics Letters' Releases New Article Authored by Razeghi & CQD Team
ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING & COMPUTER SCIENCE DEPARTMENT NEWS - June 13, 2018
Her groups efforts at the Center for Quantum Devices (http://cqd.eecs.northwestern.edu/) (CQD) demonstrated growth and characterization of long wavelength infrared type-II InAs/InAs1-xSbx superlattice photodiodes with a 50% cut-off wavelength at 8.0 μm on a GaSb substrate grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition. At 77 K, the photodiodes exhibited a differential resistance at zero bias (R0A) of 8.0 Ω cm2 and a peak responsivity of 1.26 A/W corresponding to a quantum efficiency of 21%. A specific detectivity of 5.4 × 1010 cm Hz1/2/W was achieved at 7.5 μm. Her coauthors include: D. H. Wu (https://aip.scitation.org/author/Wu%2C+D+H) , A. Dehzangi ... [read more]

Prof. Razeghi is highlighted in the Northwestern Undergraduate Research Journal
Electrical Engineering and Computer Science - June 11, 2018
Manijeh Razeghi is showing me a box. It's a small box, fitting well Within the palm of her hand and no more than a few inches in height. The transparent housing shows off the circuitry inside, including a row of AAA batteries which powers it. She points to a small node on the to of the box. "That is a light," she told me. "When you are in the sun, on the beach, a part of the sun, that is UV, has very high energy and can create cancer." She moves her hand in front of the sensor and the light fades out. She moves her hand away and it lights up again. ... [read more]
